After several years, they expanded their product line to include stuffed toys. In the early 1940s, the company relocated to the picturesque Green Mountains of Vermont. Mary's son, Walter, joined the business in the mid-1950s and remained actively involved. In 1982, Walter's son, Kevin, joined the company, eventually becoming president in 1986. Over the years, three of Kevin's brothers also joined the family business in various capacities.

Mary was actively involved in the management of her company until 1982, when she retired at the age of 78. Even after her retirement, she continued to be engaged with the business, spending many hours in the company's factory store well into her 90s. She enjoyed interacting with teddy bear collectors and signing their Mary Meyer collector bears. Mary Meyer passed away in 1999 at the age of 94, leaving a lasting legacy of gentleness and graciousness in the toy industry.
